The Halifax is part of the HBOS group – which was created from a merger between the Bank of Scotland and Halifax in 2001.

The Halifax adverts promote how they ‘give you extra’ in terms of service and products features. They famously used a member of staff – Howard – in their TV adverts which proved extremely popular with the viewing public.

The Halifax have three loans – one secured loan for home owners, a personal loan and a ‘smaller’ loan.

The Halifax Personal Loan offers customers many benefits, including exclusive online rates. An unsecured personal loan is available from £7,000 up to £25,000. Repayments are between two and seven years.

The Halifax Smaller Loan is for when you want to borrow smaller amounts – typically from £1,000 up to £6,999. The repayment terms are from 1 to 5 years. You can apply online.

Their secured loan for home owners has the benefit of you being able to repay the loan for up to 25 years, thereby keeping your monthly repayments lower. However, as with all secured loans, if you fail to meet your repayments, you could lose your home.
